When Shiva returned, the little Bal Ganesh, unaware of who he was, bravely stopped him. Lord Shiva, incensed, cut off poor Bal Ganesh’s head!

When Parvati emerged from her bath, she was enraged to find out what had transpired. Little Ganesha was shocked to find his mother wounded. She told him that it was on account of his actions, that she was in this condition. After all, it was none other than she who had gone to play with him, disguised as a cat! Ganesha felt sorry hearing this. Realising his folly, he vowed to never treat animals cruelly again.

The Lord Ganesha and Moon Story

One of the most popular Stories of Vinayaka, this one traces how the different Phases of the Moon came into existence!

The Story

Once upon a time, the great Lord Ganesha was invited to a grand feast. Known for his legendary appetite, it came as little surprise that in no time, his belly was full. On the way home, whilst he was riding on his mouse, Ganesha stumbled and his belly burst. Even though he managed to fix it in no time, he was not spared by the Moon, who had a hearty laugh at his expense.

Ganesha, deeply hurt by the moon’s behaviour, threw upon it a curse to have it disappear from sight. The Moon, sincerely apologetic, apologised to Lord Ganesha, who accepted the apology and modified the curse. He made it so that the Moon could gradually wax and wane over time, rather than disappear altogether.

The Lord Ganesha at Kubera’s Wedding Story

This is yet another Ganesha Story for Kids, that involves the dear Lord’s presence at a feast. It teaches kids to never be too greedy, and to be happy with what they have.

The Story

So greedy was he, Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati decided to teach him a lesson. They sent Lord Ganesha on their behalf, to represent them at the wedding.

In no time at all, Ganesha had eaten all the food, leaving nothing for the guests. If that were not enough, he ate up all of Kubera’s vessels and furniture, and even his entire wealth! Lord Kubera, helpless, ran to Mount Kailash to ask Lord Shiva for help. He was advised to offer a modest bowl of cereal to Ganesha. After Ganesha’s appetite had been finally satisfied, Kubera realized that he should have never been so greedy and proud.
