Sample 1 Essay on Freedom Fighters of India

Freedom. It might seem like a small 7-letter word but it means the world. Add the word ‘fighter’ to it and the term turns into an undisputable force of courage, strength and an indomitable spirit. The very three qualities that define the freedom fighters of our great and glorious nation.

Truly, the sacrifices our freedom fighters made 75 years ago so we could live with our heads held high in the present cannot be put into words. Their selfless contribution to our safety and wellbeing is beyond measure. They are the very personification of patriotism, emblematic of the bravery and the spirit of service this nation prides itself in.

We cannot even imagine the amount of courage it takes to stand at the very borders of our nation, look our enemies in the eye and sacrifice your life without a trace of fear. To endure the hardships that come living on the battlefield, to leave your family behind without knowing if you will ever see them again, and to watch your fellow soldiers die on the battlefield – it requires nerves of steel to go through them all, and to go through it with smiles on their faces and pride in their hearts is an exceptional feat.

As a nation, we are truly indebted to them for life for what they have done for us. It is because of their sacrifices that we are able to live safely in our homes, that we can walk fearlessly on the streets and can prosper and thrive, taking this nation to new heights of success. We can only strive to make their sacrifices worth their while by making India a strong and safe country to live. A country where there is freedom of speech, where oppression is a thing of the past and where everyone can live freely without fear.

What is amazing about freedom fighters is that they do not know the majority of us on a personal level, and yet they are ready to champion our cause. It is not easy to stand up for someone else but they do not bat an eyelid fighting our families, for members we lost, for the voices we could not raise. Freedom fighters make our sufferings their own sufferings, letting our pain fuel them to achieve victory in deadly wars and that is beyond admirable.

Fighting for injustice is a noble cause, but freedom fighters do not just stop there. They also inspire and motivate those around them to join in their cause, to support them and not lose hope on the battlefield. And that requires a different kind of courage altogether, where you can be the rock others can depend on and look up to. Truly, there are many things about freedom fighters that make them heroic, and we must try to emulate their many superior qualities. It would be a matter of honour if we could serve our country and our people in the same way.

Sample 2 – My favourite freedom fighters

While every nation has their own great leaders and champions of independence who never gave up, I find our nation’s heroes to be very inspiring. Our warriors of independence have influenced people all over the world with their courage, passion and ideology, inspiring people to raise their voices against injustice and fight for their freedom.Though I admire and look up to every single freedom fighter our nation has had, I am particularly enamoured by the unparalleled courage of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose. He is my favourite freedom fighter. It was under his fearless leadership that our Indian National Army attempted to thwart British rule in India. His famous dialogue “Give me your blood and I will give you freedom” is still as hair-raising and inspiring as it had been back then.

I cannot go on without mentioning the Father of our Nation, Mahatma Gandhi. Netaji, when he was young, was moved by Gandhi’s struggle for freedom and had joined his nationalist movement. No one on this planet can live up to Gandhiji’s sense of justice. Even to this day, people live by his principles of Ahimsa and Satyagraha. He has inspired several civil rights throughout the world.

I also am a huge admirer of Rani Laxmi Bai, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, Bhagat Singh and countless known and nameless freedom fighters who fought tooth and nail for our country. My heartfelt salute to all of them. Jai Hind!
